The Arcanist: Fantasy Publishing is rapidly expanding as we prepare for 2026. Needless to say, we're swamped between all of the projects.

We need help! We are searching for readers to add to our volunteer staff.

The Literary Fantasy Magazine is searching for volunteer submission readers to evaluate incoming short fiction and poetry submissions. An ideal candidate has a keen eye for quality writing, a deep love and understanding of the Fantasy genre written for multiple age groups, and a solid understanding of contemporary literary fiction.

Work is claimed by the reader as time allows with no high-pressure deadlines. No prior publishing experience is necessary. Additionally, there are always opportunities to learn more about independent publishing operations.

This role is largely unpaid, but we do pay a small thank you bonus: $0.10 per submission read, or $0.25 if the submission is accepted for publication by EiC.
