We are excited to announce that The Arcanist will be partnering with the Story Telling Collective for their upcoming Short Story September event!
We will be accepting priority submissions for The Arcanist: Volume 2 starting October 1 through November 30, 2024 from all workshop participants. Just make sure you include "StoCo" in your email subject line!
Also, we'll be joining StoCo for an online chat during the workshop, where we'll discuss our own writing, the inner workings of the magazine, and our future plans. You won't want to miss it!
What is Short Story September?
Short Story September is a free month long writing workshop hosted by Ashley Warren and Beth Ball. Over the course of the month you will work through eight lessons, partake in recommended reading and be invited to an exclusive Discord channel to receive additional support.
The best part: it's completely free to participate. All that's required is your time and effort. Two simple ingredients for an excellent beginning or reinforcement of your writing skills. This isn't just speculation, either. This workshop was how I got my start writing fiction. I attended Short Story September in 2022. The experience threw me into the deep end and held me accountable during my first earnest attempt at writing a short story!
The skills and discipline I learned during the workshop instilled good habits that prepared me for returning to school, getting several other stories published, writing my first novel, and being here to serve as EiC of The Arcanist.
Where can I sign up?
Check out the Short Story September registration page, it will give you all the info you need to get started. You can support StoCo with an optional $10 donation when you register for the workshop!
Additionally, those who donate on our Ko-Fi will receive a complimentary digital copy of our first issue before anyone else has access to it.
